The advantage of Ozone is its strong oxidizing capacity (-2.7V) is greater than Chlorine (-1.36V). It helps to save costs and does not create trihalomethanes (THM) by-products that cause negative consequences to human health and the environment.

Besides being able to remove the color of wastewater, ozone can also remove surfactants and partially oxidize COD (chemical oxygen demand) to improve bioavailability. Low-level color removal requires only a small amount of ozone and is very low cost. However, if the COD content of the colored wastewater is high, the ozone consumption will be high, which means have to use an ozone machine with high ozone capacity.

Ozone treats wastewater containing phenol requires the use of large ozone amounts. On average, the ratio of 1 mg of phenol needs to use up to 2-2.5 mg of ozone, the deoxidation efficiency of Ozone is highly effective when the pH of wastewater containing phenol is high.
